In a TV interview, Santorum defends his support of laws against abortion even in the case of rape. He says:
Well, you can make the argument that if she doesn’t have this baby, if she kills her child, that that, too, could ruin her life. . . . I believe and I think the right approach is to accept this horribly created — in the sense of rape — but nevertheless a gift in a very broken way, the gift of human life, and accept what God has given to you. . . . I can’t think of anything more horrible. But, nevertheless, we have to make the best out of a bad situation.I can think of something more horrible than a woman getting pregnant as a result of rape: a woman getting pregnant as a result of rape and then being forced by the government to give birth.

If you believe abortion is homicide, then it is consistent to say that even having been raped doesn't give you the right to have an abortion. But the argument that having an abortion, "too, could ruin her life" is weak. One presumes that a woman who has decided to get an abortion has already taken her own welfare into account. Santorum would have to make the case that he knows better, which seems rather hard.
